Daikundi is a mountainous province in central Afghanistan, part of the Hazarajat region, with its capital at Nili.
Formed in 2004, it has a population of approximately 516,000-724,000, predominantly comprised of Hazaras (86-96%) who are mostly Shiite Muslims.
The region is known for agriculture (including almonds), rural poverty, and limited infrastructure.

Daikundi was carved out of the northern part of Uruzgan province to better serve the local population in 2004.
